"My connection to coastal Karnataka runs deep," reminisces Golden Star Ganesh, reflecting on his journey in the Kannada film industry. He recalls how the team behind his debut film, "Chellata," hailed from Mangaluru, marking the beginning of his enduring bond with Karavali. Destiny played a significant role in his life as he married Shilpa, also from the region, strengthening his connection to Tulu culture and the land of Parashurama Srishti. Ganesh's long-standing dream of creating a Tulu film is finally coming to fruition as he and Shilpa gear up for this new project.
Ganesh acknowledges the cultural influence of his mother-in-law, who often shares Tulu plays, Yakshagana performances, and Tulu film clips with him. He expresses admiration for the talent in the Tulu industry, particularly praising actors like Aravind Bolar and Arjun Kapikad for their impeccable comic timing. Excited about collaborating with a talented team for the upcoming Tulu film, including Sandeep Bedra as director and Nityaprakash Bantwal as the lead actor, Ganesh is looking forward to his cameo role in the movie, marking his Tulu cinema debut.
Shilpa sees the Tulu film as a personal project and a tribute to her roots. Having grown up in Dubai, she recalls fond memories of watching Tulu dramas at the Town Hall with her family during holidays. The couple aims to shift the focus of their Tulu film to Karavali, akin to the impact "Mungaru Male" had on Coorg.Shilpa expresses a desire to highlight the cultural and artistic richness of Mangaluru, a region with great potential yet largely unexplored. Just like how the film "Mungaru Male" brought attention to Coorg, the aim is to showcase Mangaluru's tourism, art, culture, and linguistic heritage.
